Step by step

Set it up

  1. 1

    Build it on your computer

In the project folder, run npm run build. The finished site comes out in dist.

Nothing else to set up first: no base path, no workflow file, no build settings. The site gets an address of its own, so it works exactly as it does on your computer.

  2. 2

    Drop the folder on 99helpers

Open 99helpers and drop the dist folder on the page, or a zip of it. Drop the folder that has index.html directly inside it, not the whole project.

    Open the drop zone
  3. 3

    Pick an address and publish

Choose a name and publish. The site is live straight away at https://YOUR-NAME.99helpers.site, with https already set up.

  4. 4

    Publish changes the same way

Build again and drop the new folder on the same site. The address stays the same, every publish is kept as a version, and an earlier version can be made live again in one click.

  5. 5

Add what you need, when you need it

From the site's menu you can add a password, see visitor analytics, connect your own domain or ask AI to change a page, without touching the build again.

Good to know

Worth knowing

  • The free plan holds one project up to 10 MB. Starter allows 25 MB per project and Pro 500 MB; a docs site with lots of images may need one of those.
  • 99helpers serves static files. Anything that needs a server, such as API routes or server-side rendering, won't run; the build output of a static site is exactly what it needs.
  • Short addresses work: /about opens about.html, and a 404.html in the folder is used for pages that don't exist.
  • Publishing from a script or an AI assistant? There's a REST API with revocable tokens and an MCP server, so a build script or Claude can publish the folder for you.

Stuck? The usual problems, solved

Questions

Before you start

Do I need git or a GitHub account?

No. The build runs on your computer and you drop the result, so there's no repository, no workflow and no build settings to keep in step. The build runs on your own computer, with the Node.js you already have.

How do I update the site?

Build again and drop the new folder on the same site. The link doesn't change, and every earlier version is kept so you can roll back in a click.

Is 99helpers free for a Astro site?

1 project up to 10 MB at its own 99helpers.site address, with no card. Starter from $5/month billed yearly ($10 monthly), with your own domain, passwords and analytics.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on the Starter and Pro plans: add the domain to the site, then point a CNAME at sites.99helpers.site. Our custom domain guides have the exact records for each registrar.

Next step: connect your own domain to 99helpers.

Or skip the setup

Drop it in. It's online in seconds.

A file, a folder or a whole site: 99helpers puts it online at its own address, with no git, no build settings and no DNS to start with. Add your own domain whenever you're ready.
