The simplest way to embed a PDF in HTML

Putting a PDF on a web page sounds easy until you try it. The file needs hosting somewhere, the <embed> tag looks different in every browser, and on a phone the document often doesn't show at all.

This free tool does it in one go. Drop your PDF and it's hosted for you at your-name.99helpers.site. Copy the embed code, paste it into your HTML, and the PDF appears right on your page in a proper reader with search, zoom and page thumbnails.

No plugin, no script, no file server: just one <iframe> that works on desktop and mobile.

How to embed a PDF in HTML in 3 steps

1. Drop your PDF

Drag your PDF onto the box at the top of this page, or click it to choose one.

2. Pick an address and publish

Choose a short name and your PDF goes online at your-name.99helpers.site, in seconds.

3. Paste the code

Copy the ready-made embed code and paste it into your web page. That's it: the PDF shows up right on the page.

The PDF embed code, explained

This is all it takes. The tool writes it for you, but here's what each part does.

<iframe

  title="Annual report 2026"
  width="100%"
  height="600"
  style="max-width: 100%; border: 1px solid #e5e7eb; border-radius: 8px;"
  loading="lazy"
  allowfullscreen
></iframe>

Your PDF's address. Add #page=3 to the end to open on page 3.

A short description for screen readers. Use the document's name.
width / height
"100%" fills the column it sits in. 600 to 800 pixels tall suits most documents.
loading="lazy"
The PDF only loads when a visitor scrolls to it, so your page stays fast.
allowfullscreen
Lets the reader go full screen when a visitor wants a closer look.

Why <embed> and <object> fall short

The classic ways to put a PDF in HTML are <embed src="file.pdf">, <object data="file.pdf"> and an <iframe> pointing straight at the file. All three hand the PDF to the browser's built-in viewer, and that's where the trouble starts.

On a desktop browser it mostly works, but every browser shows it differently. On phones, many browsers can't show a PDF inside a page at all: visitors get the first page only, a download button, or an empty box. And you still have to upload the file to a server yourself.

The embed code from this tool points at a hosted PDF reader instead of the bare file. The reader runs in the browser, so it looks and works the same everywhere: desktop, iPhone and Android.

A PDF embed that just works

Everything your visitors need to read the document, right on your page.

Works on phones

The embed opens a real PDF reader, so the document shows on iPhone and Android, not just on desktop.

Search, zoom and pages

Visitors can search the text, zoom in, and jump between pages with thumbnails, right inside your page.

Print and download

Print and Download buttons are built in, for anyone who wants their own copy.

Update without new code

Publish a new version of the PDF and every page that embeds it shows the update. The code never changes.

See how many people read it

Views are counted for every PDF, including views through the embed.

Plain HTML

One <iframe>: no plugin, no script, no library. It works on any site that lets you add HTML.

Embedding PDFs: questions

How do I embed a PDF in HTML?
Drop your PDF onto the box at the top of this page, pick an address and publish. Then copy the embed code (an <iframe> pointing at your-name.99helpers.site) and paste it into your HTML where the PDF should appear.
Is it free?
Yes. A free account embeds PDFs up to 10 MB. Starter takes PDFs up to 25 MB and Pro up to 100 MB.
Will the embedded PDF work on mobile?
Yes. Many phone browsers can't show a PDF inside a web page on their own. This embed opens the PDF in a reader that runs in the browser, so it works on iPhone and Android as well as on desktop.
Why not just use <embed> or <object>?
They hand the PDF to the browser's built-in viewer. That works on most desktop browsers, but many phone browsers only show the first page, a download link or nothing at all. You also need somewhere to host the file.
Can I change the PDF without changing the embed code?
Yes. Publish the new version to the same address and every page that embeds it shows the update. Earlier versions are kept, so you can go back.
Can I make the embed open on a specific page?
Yes. Add #page= and the page number to the end of the address, like #page=3. The "Open on page" box in the code builder does it for you.
What size should the embed be?
Full width with a height of 600 to 800 pixels suits most documents. The code includes max-width: 100%, so a fixed width never spills off a phone screen.
Does it work in WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow?
Yes. Any site builder that lets you add a block of HTML works: a Custom HTML block in WordPress, Embed HTML in Wix, a Code block in Squarespace, a Code Embed in Webflow.
Can visitors download or print the PDF?
Yes. The reader has Download and Print buttons, next to zoom, search and page thumbnails.
Will the embed slow down my page?
No. The code uses loading="lazy", so the PDF only loads when a visitor scrolls to it.
Is there any branding on the embed?
On the free plan the reader shows a small 99helpers bar at the bottom. Starter and Pro remove it, and let you serve the PDF from your own domain.
