Host an XLSB file and share it as a link
Put a binary Excel workbook online at its own address — the format large spreadsheets use when XLSX gets too slow.

Any other file works too — up to 25.0 MB, or 100.0 MB for a whole site
Free to use. Your XLSB file is live at your-name.99helpers.site in about ten seconds.
What is a .xlsb file?
XLSB stores a workbook in Excel's binary format rather than as compressed XML. For very large spreadsheets the difference is dramatic — files are often half the size and open several times faster, which is why finance teams with enormous models tend to use it.
What people use XLSB files for
- Very large financial models and datasets
- Workbooks with hundreds of thousands of rows
- Files where opening speed genuinely matters
- Spreadsheets that had grown unusable as XLSX
What opens a XLSB file
- Microsoft Excel, which reads and writes XLSB
- LibreOffice Calc, with limited support
- Google Sheets does not import XLSB
- Most third-party libraries can't read it
How to host a XLSB file
- 1
Drop your XLSB file in
Drag it onto the box at the top of this page, or click to choose it. Files up to 25 MB are supported, and nothing is uploaded until you publish.
- 2
Pick an address
Type a name and we'll tell you straight away whether it's free. That becomes the link: large-model.99helpers.site
- 3
Publish and share
Create a free account — that step exists so the file is yours to update, replace or delete — and the link is live within seconds.
The same three steps work for any file — see how file hosting works on 99helpers.com.
What happens when someone opens the link
The file downloads and opens in Excel. Support outside Excel is notably poorer than for XLSX — Google Sheets can't import it at all, and most programming libraries don't read it.
Why host a XLSB file instead of emailing it?
XLSB is used for files that are large by definition, which is exactly when email attachments fail. A link handles the size, and the format's compactness means more of these workbooks fit under the limit than you might expect.
Worth knowing before you publish
- Recipients essentially need Excel — Google Sheets can't open XLSB and most tools can't parse it.
- XLSB can contain macros, like XLSM, so the same review applies before publishing.
- If the recipient might not have Excel, save as XLSX even at the cost of a larger file.
XLSB hosting questions
- Can Google Sheets open an XLSB file?
- No. Sheets imports XLSX and XLS but not the binary format. If your recipient uses Sheets, convert to XLSX before sharing.
- Why use XLSB instead of XLSX?
- Speed and size on very large workbooks — often half the size and several times faster to open. For ordinary spreadsheets the difference isn't worth the compatibility cost.
- Can XLSB contain macros?
- Yes, unlike XLSX. Review any VBA for credentials or internal system details before publishing publicly.
