What is a .pptm file?
PPTM is a PowerPoint presentation that can contain VBA macros. It's much rarer than macro-enabled Word or Excel files — the usual reasons are interactive training decks, quizzes that score themselves, or presentations that pull in live data.
What people use PPTM files for
- Interactive training and assessment decks
- Quizzes that track and score answers
- Presentations that generate slides from data
- Decks with custom navigation controls
What opens a PPTM file
- Microsoft PowerPoint, which prompts before enabling macros
- LibreOffice Impress, with partial support
- Google Slides, which strips macros on import
How to host a PPTM file
- 1
Drop your PPTM file in
Drag it onto the box at the top of this page, or click to choose it. Files up to 25 MB are supported, and nothing is uploaded until you publish.
- 2
Pick an address
Type a name and we'll tell you straight away whether it's free. That becomes the link: interactive-deck.99helpers.site
- 3
Publish and share
Create a free account — that step exists so the file is yours to update, replace or delete — and the link is live within seconds.
The same three steps work for any file — see how file hosting works on 99helpers.com.
What happens when someone opens the link
The file downloads. PowerPoint disables macros by default and warns the reader — standard for any PPTM, and worth flagging in advance so people don't assume the file is suspect.
Why host a PPTM file instead of emailing it?
Macro-enabled files get blocked by mail filters more often than any other Office format. A link gets the deck to its audience, provided you explain what the macros do.
Worth knowing before you publish
- Tell recipients what the macro does before they open it, or most will decline the security prompt.
- If the interactivity could be built with PowerPoint's own triggers and hyperlinks, a plain .pptx avoids the warnings entirely.
- VBA in the file is readable by anyone who downloads it.
PPTM hosting questions
- Why does PowerPoint warn about my deck?
- Macro-enabled files are disabled by default when they come from outside your organisation. That's standard behaviour and applies to any PPTM.
- Do I actually need macros?
- Often not. PowerPoint's built-in triggers, hyperlinks and animations handle a surprising amount of interactivity, and a plain .pptx opens without any warning.
- Will the macros work for the recipient?
- Only if they enable them, and only if the macros don't depend on files or systems inside your network.
