Sample CommonMark file
======================

Free sample from 99helpers.com/file-types/md. This file uses only core
CommonMark syntax (spec version 0.31.2), with no extensions, so every
CommonMark-compliant renderer should produce the same HTML from it.

---------------

The two headings above are "setext" headings, underlined with `=` and
`-`. The ATX style below uses `#` signs.

## Lists

3. An ordered list can start at any number,
9. but only the first number counts:
1. these items still show as 4 and 5.

* A tight list (no blank lines between items)
* renders without paragraphs inside the items.

- A loose list

- has blank lines between items, so each item becomes a paragraph.

## Code blocks

    No language can be given.

~~~
A fenced code block can use tildes as well as backticks.
~~~

## Block quote and rule

>
> > with a nested quotation.

***

## Entities and escapes

© & € 😀 and a literal \*asterisk\*.
